Even digging that seems harmless can be dangerous to you or your family and cause serious damage to underground facilities.
To reduce these risks, the Texas on-call notification system went into effect on October 1, 1998. A new state law requires anyone digging or excavating with machine-powered equipment to a depth of more than 16 inches to call a notification center two days before digging begins. The center will notify appropriate personnel to mark the locations of underground lines, pipes and other facilities.
